What Makes a Lacrosse Goalie's Kit Different

A lacrosse goalie's gear order looks different from the rest of the roster — not because of the jersey, but because of what goes underneath and around it.

More Equipment, Not Usually a Different Jersey Color

Unlike some sports where a specialty position wears a visibly different jersey, a lacrosse goalie generally wears the same team colors as everyone else. What's different is what's worn beneath and alongside the jersey, not the jersey itself.

What a Goalie Actually Wears Beyond the Jersey

A chest protector is required equipment, not optional — current standards require goalkeeper chest protectors that meet NOCSAE lacrosse safety standards for both boys' and girls' goalies. Additional padding for the legs and thighs is common, especially at the youth level for girls' goalies. And a goalie's stick is a completely different piece of equipment, with a much larger head than a field player's crosse.

Why This Matters for Ordering

A goalie's kit doesn't fit neatly into a standard per-player uniform order the way a field player's gear does — it's worth planning as its own line item rather than assuming one spec covers the whole roster. The protective pieces especially are safety equipment first, not just part of a matching team look.
