The Different Types of Lacrosse Uniforms: Game, Practice, and Everything In Between
Lacrosse programs often need more distinct pieces than people expect walking into an order. Here's the full range, and what each piece is actually for.
The Game Uniform
A jersey and shorts — or a jersey and kilt for many girls' programs — sublimated and built to your league's required colors and numbering. This is the piece that gets the most attention and the most budget, and it's worth building specifically to whatever your league's rules require.
Practice Gear
Reversible practice jerseys or pinnies let a coach split the roster into two scrimmage squads without buying a second full uniform set. Practice gear is built for durability and daily wear rather than the exact game-day design requirements, which also keeps the cost down on the piece that sees the most use.
Boys' and Girls' Uniforms Aren't the Same Build
Boys and girls lacrosse are different enough games — different contact rules, different required equipment — that the uniform order isn't the same list with different colors swapped in. It's worth its own conversation, which we cover in more detail separately.
Goalie Gear
A goalie's kit includes more than the team jersey — additional padding and a chest protector that's required equipment, not optional, plus a different stick. Worth planning as its own line item rather than assuming the standard roster order covers it.
Fan and Spirit Wear
Parent and sibling gear matching the team's actual colors and logo, rather than a generic design in a similar shade — the finishing piece that makes a program feel complete beyond just the players on the field.
