From Logo to Jersey: Getting Team Branding Right
Most teams show up to a uniform order with a logo — sometimes a clean, high-resolution file, sometimes a rough sketch of an idea, sometimes just a photo of last year's jersey. Turning any of that into something that actually reads well on a jersey is a different job than designing a logo for a flyer or a website, and it's worth understanding why before you assume any file will just "work."
What Works on a Screen Doesn't Always Work on Fabric
A logo with fine detail or a subtle gradient can look sharp on a monitor and disappear at jersey scale, especially viewed from the stands or across a court at game speed. Fabric also isn't flat the way a screen is — seams, folds, and body movement change how a design actually reads in motion. A mark built for a business card is solving a completely different problem than one built to sit across a chest and stay legible from thirty feet away.
Why Sublimation Gives a Design More Room to Work
Screen printing limits how many colors and how much gradient a design can realistically include before cost and durability both suffer. Sublimation doesn't have that ceiling — it can reproduce complex color transitions, shading, and detail because the design is dyed directly into the fabric rather than layered on top of it. That means a mascot or crest can carry real detail without extra cost per color, and none of that detail is at risk of cracking or peeling the way a heavily printed design would be.
What Makes a Team Logo Actually Read Well on a Jersey
- Bold enough to stay legible at a distance — fine detail that works on paper often needs to be simplified for fabric
- A version that works as a single accent color, for smaller placements like a sleeve or a hat
- A clean, high-resolution source file, so nothing has to be recreated from a blurry screenshot or an old photo
What If You Don't Have a Clean Logo File Yet?
Plenty of teams start with exactly that — a rough idea, a photo of an old jersey, or a small low-resolution logo that's been passed down for years. That's a normal starting point, not a problem. Our design team can build or clean up a usable file from whatever you actually have, rather than requiring a polished file before we can start.

A jersey is a logo's biggest stage. It's worth making sure the design actually holds up on it.
